We currently have all of the equipment we need to brew our first batch. But we would like a bigger pot. If you have one, e-mail
the list or
Kristin if you're not a list member.
The original plan was to start brewing at our kick-off party. But here are some problems with that: It takes a little while, BNB Baltimore has found that in the past it's a bad idea to brew at a party because people get drunk and rowdy and distracted... maybe those are the only problems.
It seems as though we can do our first batch ourselves. If we need to, we could call them with any questions, we could also call the homebrew store cause that guy's really nice (and a UMCP alum! He lived in Setareh's old building), and Chris, another UMCP alum and expert homebrewer, would probably be willing to be there with us to walk us through it.
It seems as though the whole process will take 7-9 weeks (10 days for brewing and 6-8 weeks for maturing). This means that if we start this weekend, we could have it done by the first or second weekend in Feb, which are the first two weekends after school starts. Brew Not Bombs Baltimore is still willing to bring down some of their hard cider from what it sounds like, even if we do get our first batch done in time for our first party. So we'd have cider and brew.
Here's what we need:
