Biking is good for your health.
Oil is a sticky mess: physically, politically, and ecologically. So ride your bike to school, and what better way to celebrate than a CRITICAL MASS BIKE RIDE through scenic College Park and vicinity.
What is a Critical Mass? The Critical Mass Bike Ride is a (semi) organized bike ride open to the public, inviting all participants. People have many varying reasons to ride in a Critical Mass. Some demand a safe space on the streets to ride to work, others do it in protest of "car culture," some are "reclaiming space" or simply having a fun bike ride at a relaxing pace with a supportive community.
The route is not chosen before hand and is fairly spontaneous. There are no leaders and no masters, the ride tends to go where its many participants take it. Laws are followed as the group sees them to be safe and appropriate.
All are welcome, and roller-bladers, runners, skate-boarders and all people powered vehicles are explicitly invited to participate.
We will need help fliering, getting the word out, and inviting participants. Anyone wishing to get involved before, during or after the ride can feel free to email
Andrea. Welcome to bring your own fliers. signs, bells and whistles (but i shouldn't have to say it, be respectful and try to stay on point if possible).
