All acts of moderation (moving, hiding, deleting, editing posts) should be clearly noted, and explanations for the action should be given.
Hiding, editing, and deleting should be a last resort. The integrity of the original posts should be maintained as much as possible. If it is absolutely necessary to take a moderation action, moving posts to the "off-topic" forum is preferred (with the move being noted in the original forum). If the offending post is embedded within a legitimate thread, then the post should be copied and pasted into the "off-topic" forum and removed from the original thread.
Off-topic posts should be moved to the off-topic forum.
Instead of rules, the forum and listserv should have guidelines. This gives everyone more discretion in what to post and how to act based on individual situations. No penalties should be set for violating guidelines, but it should be understood that severe abuse of Peace Forum resources will not be tolerated by the group.
A listserv for active members of Peace Forum (ones who attend meetings) should be created so that the group can be consulted before moderation is done.
