The government has recently moved to privatize public health and medicare and since October 2002, hospital workers have been on strike in protest. SAWU presented Dr. Orellana with money raised at the May Day BBQ in solidarity and support of the striking workers. • Standing in solidarity with campus workers May 13th for a rally in front of the Administration building as part of Students And Workers Unite!. Staff is currently negotiating for their crucial first contract.

• May Day BBQ was a big success as far as it brought people together, but the protest was perhaps a bit less forceful than it needed to be.

• Students And Workers Unite! The first joint action with workers was a rally on campus Monday February 10th
• They say War, We said STRIKE!: Students Strike for Peace, March 5th.
• Race And Activism : Tuesday March 11th in Jimenez 0200, A teach-in designed to explore how issues of race and racism affect the lives of activists of color. • Working with migrant workers of the Coalition of Immokokalee Workers on a Boycott Taco Bell campaign. Please read the Spanish Letter we will send to them.
• Blockading and shutting down two military recruitment centers in D.C. on Dec. 10th, International Human rights day. Watch the video.
• Taking Part in a Body Bag demo at Exxon-Mobil headquarters to draw attention to how big oil will profit from and lobby for an unneccessary war.
• Acting in solidarity with UNITE (http://www.uniteunion.org) to support the Laundry Workers in D.C. as they fight to unionize. See here for an account of the Rally on November 27, 2002.
• Protesting with ACT-UP and Health GAP for affordable AIDS drug coverage in the U.S. and full funding of AIDS treatment and prevention initiatives in Africa at white house Tuesday Nov. 26th. • Organizing rides and attending the national protest against the School of the Americas in Fort Benning Georgia. Who wants to write an account of Our Trip?
